3. What if my child is late for school?
We understand that there may be instances when it is not possible to be here on time. However, please have your child at school on time so we can begin our day together. Tardies will be noted on report cards and habitual tardiness may affect your child's progress in Pre-K.

Afternoon class – Children are tardy at 12:30pm
If you arrive late, YOU must WALK your child into the office to receive a tardy pass. Your child will then be walked to the classroom by a staff member.
4. What is the attendance policy?
Regular, on-time attendance at school is vital to your child's success. Most of our learning activities take place in a large group setting and involve interaction with classmates. If your child is absent we must have a note with the reason for the absence. Even if you call the office, we still need a note from either a parent/guardian or a doctor for documentation signed and dated.
5. What if my child is sick?
If your child is sent to school sick or becomes sick during school hours we will be contacting you to pick up your child.
If your child will not be attending school due to illness please call the school and leave a message or send an email to me at [email protected].
When your child returns to school after an illness, please send a note excusing him or her include the date of the absence, reason, and sign it.

6. Where do I pick up my child after school?
Morning Class:*
Pre-K students are dismissed at 11:00 am at the front of the school. If you will be picking your child up after 11:05 they will be waiting in the front office and will need to be signed out.
Afternoon Class:*
Pre-K students are dismissed 3:30 according to your previously designated mode of transportation.
*Any changes to the way your child normally goes home will also need to be submitted in writing before they occur. It is the parent’s responsibility to inform daycare providers of our class times, early dismissals, and holidays.
7. Is there an after school program my child can attend?
No, there is not an after school program for Pre-K age students.
8. Will my child eat at school?
Students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast/lunch before class begins. Breakfast and lunch is no longer included in our class time.
Morning class:* Breakfast is before school from 7:30-7:55
Yes, students can choose to bring their breakfast in a lunchbox or purchase a breakfast tray from cafeteria. Students will have a choice of cereal and toast or a hot breakfast. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria daily. The students have a choice of a hot breakfast or cereal.

Afternoon class:*Lunch is before class from 12:00-12:25
Yes, students can choose to bring their lunch in a lunchbox or purchase a lunch tray from cafeteria. Lunch is served in the cafeteria daily. Students have a choice of entrees and sides. Students will be taken to the cafeteria if dropped off at 12:00 to eat. If you arrive after 12:05 and your child needs to eat, please sign in and escort them to the cafeteria.
Lunch prices - Full price $2.50 daily/Reduced price .40
*All students are encouraged to eat independently; feeding of students is not permitted. Please do not ask teachers or other staff members to feed your child or force them to eat. Students are not allowed to take any food or beverages out of the cafeteria.
9. How do I pay for my child’s breakfast or lunch?
Parents are encouraged to go to the cafeteria and deposit money in their child’s account when necessary. Or, parents can also put money in an envelope and label the envelope with the child’s full name and I.D.#. 10. What is the best way to contact my child’s teacher?
All calls received during class time will be answered by receptionist and she will take a message; calls will be returned as soon as possible after school or during planning time (11:30-12:15). Of course, you may send a note to school with your child at any time in his or her Daily folder or email me at [email protected]. If you would like to schedule a conference to discuss your child’s academic progress, you may e-mail me or send a note.
11. Will my child bring home a daily folder?
YES. We will be sending home a daily folder. Please check it every night and send it back every day. Your child's daily behavior, along with important dates, will be displayed on the behavior calendar (which will be stapled on the inside of the folder). Important information regarding your child’s education will also be included in the weekly newsletter that will be emailed weekly. If you do not have an email address, please let me know so that I can send home a paper copy each week.
12. Will my child have homework?
Your child may have projects or take-home books to read. The work will reinforce concepts that we are learning at school.
13. Will my child bring home a daily behavior report?
Yes, your child will receive a stamp each day on his/her calendar. See the calendar for further information.
14. When will report cards be sent home?
Report cards will be sent home every 12 weeks. We will notify you in advance so you can look in your child's backpack for his/her report card. Please read your newsletter for the report card dates and instructions. When you receive the report card, remove and review it, then sign the report card and return the card and the envelope to school.
15. Should I send money to school with my child?
There may be times during the school year when a note is sent home with your child to purchase certain items like books, fundraising items, or individual pictures. Please know that you are never obligated to send money to school for any of these purposes. Should you choose to send money to school for any reason it should only be sent to school with the proper order form in their daily folder. Please do not send loose money to school for ANY reason.
16. What should my child wear to school?
No spaghetti strap tops or midriff shirts or blouses. If your child wears jewelry or hair items and they become a distraction, they may be asked to remove them during work time. Please read Dress code section in our student handbook.
17. Does my child need a backpack?
YES. All students will need a functional backpack large enough to hold a 9x12 inch folder inside without folding or bending. Backpacks with wheels are NOT allowed, they are too cumbersome and impractical for young children to handle independently. Backpacks will be used daily for storage of extra clothes, so please make sure that your child brings his/her backpack each day. Many backpacks look alike; please label your child's backpack with his/her name visible on the outside.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD BRINGS A BACKPACK TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY
*TOYS, CANDY, and FOOD: For safety reasons please do not allow your child to bring any toys or candy to school. Toys can easily become broken, lost, or stolen. Teachers will not be responsible for toys brought to school. Candy and gum are not allowed at school at any time.
18. Does my child need to bring a change of clothes to school?
YES. Please send an extra change of clothes to school enclosed in a labeled Ziploc bag in your child's backpack as soon as possible. Please make sure the bag is labeled.
**Please include the following items:
Underwear, socks, shirt, pants or shorts**
The change of clothes will be stored in your child’s backpack- DO NOT REMOVE THE CHANGE OF CLOTHES. This is why it is so important for your child to bring a backpack to school daily.
19. Do I need to purchase school supplies for my child?
YES. See school supply list on the school website or located in the front office.
20. Can I bring treats to school for my child's birthday?
In class, we recognize each child’s birthday, but we are not allowed to have birthday parties at school. You may pass out invitations at school ONLY if there are enough invitations for EVERYONE! Also, the district prohibits us from serving any snacks for birthdays. DO NOT send any food to share with the class.

If you are unable to come to school to help but are interested in having projects sent home to cut or color, please let your teacher know.
